Simon Benetton Biography
Simon Benetton, born Alessandro Benetton (Treviso, 24 October 1933 – Treviso, 14 October 2016), was an Italian sculptor, painter and poet. He began his career by attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and then continued his career as a solo artist. Simon Benetton went through different periods that contributed to his formation: from the figurative to the plastic vibration in space, from the module as a symbol of impulse to spatial dynamics, from the plate to the macrostructure as an element and expression of the will and conquest of modern man. Ending with his latest studies projecting himself into urban space as an expression of freedom and progress until arriving at the union between iron and crystal. To date, his works are exhibited in temporary, collective and personal exhibitions, organized in public spaces by Italian and foreign institutions and cities (including Germany, France, England, Spain, Finland, the United States, Brazil, China, Austria, Japan, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Belgium) while many other works are collected in prestigious collections in public and private museums or in public places such as squares and gardens in many cities.
