Carlo Benvenuto was born in Stresa in 1966.
Benvenuto's works challenge the familiarity of objects through a poetics that is based on communication through the reduction of individual choices. The artist works at home with his objects, photographing them at 1:1 scale on a neutral background. Its rarefied atmosphere of delicacy and suspense transforms common elements into a mystery, through a skilful use of light and chromatic tones. Composition and form are fundamental for the artist, who declares his admiration for classical painting. Benvenuto's works are made with traditional, chemical negatives, without the use of digital technology either in the shooting or post-production phase; without any photo editing.
Carlo Benvenuto has exhibited in important Italian and foreign exhibition spaces, including the Mart in Rovereto, the GAMEC in Bergamo and the MAMBO in Bologna.
He currently lives and works in Milan.
