Antonio Berini (1770 - 1861) was an engraver of cameos and semiprecious stones, born in Rome in 1770.
At the end of the century he moved to Milan, where he worked for the Sommariva counts, known for their collection of engraved stones.
Berini belonged to the Roman school of cameo and semiprecious stone engravers of the neoclassical period.
The works of Berini, who was a pupil of G. Pichier, present traditional subjects of classical mythology represented with a style still linked to the eighteenth century, characterized by lightness of relief, fluidity of lines and softness of volumes.
