Bartolomeo Biscaino (Genoa, 1629 - Genoa, 1657). His father, a landscape painter, introduced him to art, but his real training took place in Valerio Castello's workshop where it is thought he painted reproductions of Guido Reni and Giulio Romano. The evolution of Biscanio's artistic production, however, was directed towards engraving, in the footsteps of the well-known painter Grechetto. He died during a terrible plague epidemic in the city where he was born.
