Francesco Bitonti Biography
Francesco Bitonti (1949 - ) is a painter, sculptor and ceramist, born in San Giovanni in Fiore in the province of Cosenza. He began his artistic career in 1973, painting until 1990. He later dedicated himself to sculpture, working in clay, stone and marble. To his credit he has numerous solo exhibitions and participations in important events in Italy and abroad. He has created several monuments for public and private bodies and illustrated school textbooks. Bitonti creates a series of sculptural figures dedicated to a person very dear to him (Amalia) and at the same time, he is requested by public and private bodies for the creation of large works, such as commemorative sculptures, statues and busts of illustrious personalities, which can be appreciate in various squares of Calabrian towns. He has numerous national and international exhibitions to his credit, at associations, museums and galleries. He has participated in various national and international artistic and design events, obtaining important awards. The last important exhibition saw him among the Calabrian artists in Montreal, in 2004, at the Leonardo da Vinci Center, an artistic point of reference for the Italian community in Canada.
