William Edward Blomfield was an English architect, born on 6 March 1829 and died on 30 October 1899, who mainly specialized in designs for churches and public buildings and was one of the greatest representatives of posthumous Victorian architecture. Among the churches he built, those of Santa Maria in Portsea and Santa Maria in Walmer stand out, all characterized by large buildings decorated in neo-Gothic style.
