Gino Bogoni (1921 – 1990) after an unhappy childhood and a difficult adolescence, but precociously open to art, became a pupil and assistant of the Director of the Cignaroli Academy of Verona at just 13 years old. He received the First Prize at the National Art Competitions in Rome in 1938 at just 17 years old. In 1939 he graduated in sculpture and was then transported to Russia, where he remained until the spring of 1943 before returning to Italy on foot. During his training he remained in close contact with Marcello Mascherini, Arturo Martini, Luciano Minguzzi and others. Starting from 1949 Mascherini will call him to Trieste to collaborate with him on the realization of some projects; this collaboration would last until 1983 and would develop into a close friendship. In 1971 he taught sculpture at the International Sommerakademie Fur Bildende Kunst in Salzburg (Austria) and held courses in Belgium, at the Academies of Liège, Brussels, Antwerp, Verviers and Hasselt. He participates in over two hundred collective and personal exhibitions, winning numerous awards. His works are present in public and private collections in various European countries, Canada, Mexico, Japan and the United States of America, including: C. Hansen, Copenhagen – P. Selden, Houston – M. Marinotti, Milan – F. Nemeth, Minneapolis – G. Marussi, Trieste – C. Massagrande, Verona and in the following museums: Museum of Modern Art, Skopje – Museum of Modern Art, Turin – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Revoltella, Trieste – Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Verona and Musma Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Matera.
