Karl Theodor Boehme (also known as Bohn and Boehme) was born in 1866 in Hamburg, Germany and died in Munich in 1939.
Karl Theodor Bohme attended the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe from 1884 to 1892. Boehme undertook many travels such as Norway, Italy, France, England and Malta. Especially in Italy, in Capri and Liguria, he created many rocky seascapes. One of his most famous paintings depicts the Coast of Capri, while another the Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte.
Starting in 1891, he participated in important art exhibitions. His works often show spurs of rock overlooking the sea, which represent the force of the crashing waves. His seascapes are often devoid of figures, ships and other elements that could distract attention from the atmospheric effect depicted, which is the true subject of the work.
Some of his works are present in the history collections of the city of Baden-Baden, in the Revoltella Civic Museum of Trieste and in the Fine Arts collection of the University of Cincinnati (USA).
