Tommaso Bona was a painter who was born in Brescia in 1548, belonging to a patrician family. His oldest documented work (1580) is the Madonna with saints Sebastiano and Rocco in the church of San Rocco in Bovegno. In 1581, the painter was commissioned to decorate the central nave of the church of San Pietro de Dom in Brescia, which was later demolished to make room for the new cathedral. In 1588, he decorated the hall of the Palazzo della Loggia, which was also destroyed.
The artist's fame is attested by the many works that sources mention in the city and province of Brescia. Most of them are missing.
He died in Brescia in 1614 and was buried in the church of San Francesco (Fenaroli).
