Carlo Bonfà (1944 - 2022) was born in Pegognaga (MN) in 1944. He moved with his family to Verona where he studied the arts. In 1968, the Galleria Ferrari organized his first solo exhibition, with a critical text in the catalog by Tommaso Trini. In those days his production is characterized in the creation of performances and for a practical object of poor and conceptual ancestry. From 1968 to 1970 he dedicated himself to performances based on minimal gestures, and to works of study and research on the theme of the body. During this period he exhibited in Verona, Como, Milan and Bologna. 1977 saw his "black phase", devoid of colour, graphic, deliberately inexpressive with "Where is Pontormo?". In the 80s the return to painting. The artist, who was also a teacher at the Art Institute of Mantua, joined the Ethical Art Movement in 2016 and published his own personal Ethical Manifesto entitled “StrAtego”. In the first part of the 80s, he was included by Renato Barilli and Francesca Alinovi in ​​the "Nuovi-Nuovi" group and he will be part of the entire exhibition dedicated to the group.
