Bernard Borderie Biography
Bernard Borderie was born in Paris on 10 June 1924, son of the producer Raymond Bordier. After working as an illustrator, he moved to cinema first as an assistant director, then as a director. In 1951 he made his first feature film, The Girl from Trieste, a Franco-Italian production. He later directed some action films, launching the character of Lemmy Caution, a CIA agent played by Eddie Constantine and that of the Gorilla, played by Lino Ventura. Between 1964 and 1968, he directed five films in the "Angélica" series, starring Michèle Mercier. He also directed other highly successful films in the cloak and dagger, noi, comedy and detective genres. Starting from the mid-1970s he preferred to devote himself to directing television dramas. Having fallen ill with cancer, he died at the age of just 53 in 1978.
