Enzo Borgini Biography

Originally from Lastra a Signa (Fi), Enzo Borgini was born in 1934 and completed his artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, a pupil of Giorgio Settata. From a very young age he worked for the local ceramic factories preparing models for mass production and in the early 1950s, as a talented young painter, he was hired at the "Bagni Ceramiche" in Lastra a Signa. In 1959 he held his first solo exhibition in the Sala Comunale of his city, followed by solo and group exhibitions in Florence, Genoa and Rome. In 1960 he won the Palladio Prize at the International Ceramics Salon in Vicenza and the following year, at the International Ceramics Exhibition in Faenza was awarded the Ugolini Prize. In 1971 he obtained the Brunelleschi Prize for graphics and in 1985 he made his debut, successfully in the United States, in New York, Los Angeles and Aspen, California. In 1995 the Montelupo Fiorentino Ceramics Museum dedicated a solo exhibition to him and in 1997, combining his art with music, he set up an exhibition of paintings all inspired by Verdi's masterpieces.
