Painter and ceramist, Manfredo Borsi was born in Florence in 1900. Having approached ceramics at a very young age, in 1922 he spent a period in Denmark where he worked as a designer in the editorial office of the magazine Vore Damer. In 1924 he moved to France, to Biarritz, where he took care of the decorations of the Hotel Du Golf. In the following years he collaborated with Paul Poiret in various artistic fields and worked on advertising posters with Cappiello. In 1930 he moved to Switzerland where he created some covers for the Toring Club. Returning to France in the early 1930s he became a friend and collaborator of Umberto Brunelleschi. In 1948 he moved to Vallauris, France, where he became a pupil and collaborator of Pablo Picasso and where, subsequently, he opened his own artistic studio with an adjoining ceramics laboratory. He died in Saint Paul de Vence in 1967
