Gianni Borta Biography
Gianni Borta is an artist born in Udine in 1941, who has established himself as one of the major protagonists of naturalistic art. Thanks to the themes and results achieved, he is considered a leader in his sector and has exhibited on numerous occasions since 1961. In his 55-year career he has participated in 870 exhibitions and obtained 260 national and international awards. He also took part in important artistic exhibitions such as the Biennials, the Trivenete and the National Quadrennial of Rome, but also in events abroad such as the Kunstemesse 1979 in Basel, the Wash Fair - Art Fair Washington (USA), the 15th Graphics Biennial in Ljubljana (SLO) and many others. He has held 175 solo exhibitions in major Italian cities and around the world, including important centers such as New York, London, Paris and Shanghai. His works have been exhibited in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, Venezuela, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Holland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Spain, Sweden, China, Russia and Finland. His works can be found in museums, public bodies and institutes and he has created numerous works of art in public buildings such as mosaics in schools, prisons, hospitals, sports and judicial facilities, monuments, town halls and courts. He also carried out graphic work, drawing and illustration of books, posters and magazines, and wrote books and spoke at art schools and events, including at the 1976 Venice Biennale. From 1976 to 1996 he was National Secretary of the Federation Italian Artists Association (FIDA) in Rome. His activity is documented in the archive for twentieth-century Italian art in Florence "Kunsthistorisches institut in Florenz", the Historical Archive of the Venice Biennale and on Artprice, the world leader in artistic information.
