Marcel Andrè Bouraine Artwork valuations, appraisals and auction estimates

Marcel André Bouraine was born in 1886 in Pontoise, France, and was a pupil of Joseph-Alexandre Falguière. During the 1914-1918 war he was taken prisoner by the Germans and interned in Switzerland, where he created some monuments.

Marcel André Bouraine was born in 1886 in Pontoise, France, and was a pupil of Joseph-Alexandre Falguière. During the 1914-1918 war he was taken prisoner by the Germans and interned in Switzerland, where he created some monuments.
He exhibited his works at the Salon des Tuileries in 1922 and at the Salon d'Automne in 1923. Bouraine also designed some glass statues which were produced by Argy-Rousseau in the 1930s.
He is best known for his gold and ivory figures, but he also created entire bronzes and figurative groups, many of which had a classical theme. He worked for major publishers such as Susse Frères, Etling, Arthur Goldscheider and Max Le Verrier, with whom he had a long relationship together with Pierre Le Faguays.
In 1937, with an important commission, he participated in the Paris International Exhibition with two Monumental Sculptures. He died in 1948.
