Adriano Brambilla Biography
Adriano Brambilla, born in Cassano d'Adda in 1829, was a well-known cabinetmaker active in Milan. Considered one of the greatest exponents of this art in the Lombardy scene, Brambilla was known for the refinement of his works. His works show a mix of styles and influences coming above all from the Italian Renaissance, in particular from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. For this reason, the great Renaissance masters were a source of inspiration for Brambilla, who, preferring Raphael's masterpieces, often used his prints.
Brambilla was also known for the elegant inlays he made, in some cases using the refined "Carthusian" technique with precious materials such as ivory, mother-of-pearl, pakfond and copper, building sumptuous furniture for illustrious clients and rich collectors, such as Antonio Borgogna from Vercelli.
In 1878, Brambilla participated in the Paris Exhibition, while in 1881 he was present at the Italian Industrial Exhibition in Milan.
