Luigi Brunella (1927 - 1981) was born in Bardello in 1927. Already in elementary school he discovered his passion for drawing and around the age of 17 he painted his first picture, managing to convince his parents to enroll him in the Beato Angelico Christian Art School. of Milan, where he met, among others, prof. Ernesto Bergagna, a great master of many artists and author of numerous frescoes and paintings of a religious nature. His artistic life took place amidst many difficulties due to economic necessity and only after his marriage to Norma in 1954 at the age of 27 did he begin to develop his artistic activity with a certain intensity when he emigrated to Switzerland in 1955. After being unable to importing most of his pieces due to high customs duties when he returned to Bardello in 1960, he was forced to make many efforts before he could conduct his first exhibition at the age of 35 in 1962 at the Frati hotel in Gavirate. Where he began to become one of the most active animators of life in Gavirate and a teacher adored by many young people who attended his painting courses first in Arcisate and then in San Michele and his drawing courses in the elementary schools of Gavirate, where he settled in 1964 .
