Giovanni Bruno (1961 - ) was born in Busalla (GE) in 1961. He graduated from the Liceo Artistico in Genoa in 1980, finishing his studies in scenography at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan in 1984. Since 1987 he has dedicated himself completely to art and begins the research activity, in which the pictorial investigation is integrated with the experiences acquired over the years in the field of scenography, where the comparison is with the scenic space and the technology of materials. Research work began early on the concept of wear and tear in matter, which becomes painting, while the sign which in many of Bruno's works is writing fades to become eurythmic memory of time. He focuses his creative work on the signs that time leaves on objects. A great example of this is the artist's work on glass plates, which he acquired from craftsmen and bodybuilders and then returned with a fresh beauty, reviving memories of the past. They are the product of an endless transformation process that has involved splitting, smoothing, crumbling and an obsessive process of consumption and reconstruction. He teaches Theater Scenography in the two-year specialist course in Scenography at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Lives and works in Milan.
