Guido Cacciapuoti Biography

GUIDO CACCIAPUOTI_Born in Naples on 11 August 1892, he belongs to an ancient family of majolica makers from whom he learned the secrets of ceramic art. A very talented modeller, he stands out for his beautiful animal sculptures. Having moved together with his brother Mario to Treviso, he worked at the "Gregori" factory and in 1915 he successfully participated in the Treviso Art Exhibition. Occasionally he also has collaborative relationships with the company "Lazzar & Marcon" of Treviso. In 1920 he presented some works at the XII Venice Biennale and the following year he exhibited at the Treviso Regional Art Exhibition. The King of Italy, Mussolini, Starace and Prince George of England purchased some of his works. In 1927, together with his brother Mario and with Angelo Bignami in the role of administrative and commercial director of the company, he founded the factory "Gres d'Arte Cacciapuoti Bignami & C." with headquarters in Milan in viale Premuda 34. In 1930, due to the premature death of his brother, he remained the sole owner of the company. The factory immediately enjoyed great success and became famous for the realistic animal sculptures created by Guido. Guido Cacciapuoti died in 1953.
