Benedetto Caliari (Verona, 1538 – Venice, 1598) was an Italian painter. Benedetto Caliari is an artist born into a family of artists. His father Gabriele Caliari was an architect and stonemason and his brother, Paolo Caliari, better known by the name Paolo Veronese, was a famous mannerist painter. Benedetto Caliari and the two sons of the Veronese Carlo (or Carletto) Caliari (1570-1596) and Gabriele Caliari (1568-1631), were the main collaborators of the mannerist master. After Veronese's death in 1588, Benedetto, Carlo and Gabriele completed the paintings that the master had not finished. The collections of the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the Academy of Arts in Honolulu, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Caen contain works by Benedetto Caliari.
