Vincenzo Calli Biography
Vincenzo Calli (1953 - ) after graduating from the Sansepolcro Art Institute, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1986 he won the first prize "Arte 86" of the Mondadori magazine for painting and was invited to exhibit in the important galleries: "Il Parametro" in Rome and "Salomon and Augostoni Algranti" in Milan. It was in 1993 that the gallery owner Michel Douberville, after having seen one of his mixed techniques, invited the artist with a solo exhibition at the historic Bermheim-Jeune Art Gallery in Paris where the greats of painting, Renoir, Cézanne, Van Gogh and Modigiani. In the same year he returned to the United States, invited by the “Camino Real Gallery” for a solo exhibition in Boca Raton, Florida. The catalog was signed by William Biety. In 1999 he returned to his places of origin by exhibiting an exhibition entitled “From the mind to the heart” in Piero Della Francesca's house in Sansepolcro. From 2000 onwards the artist exhibited in the United States and Great Britain, where his works were hosted respectively in the Camino Real Gallery Florida, in London at the Albemarle Gallery and Belgravia Gallery. Other exhibitions continue in Italy. 2007 is the year in which the artist returns to exhibit in his hometown of Anghiari, where the Superintendence of Fine Arts of Arezzo organizes the personal exhibition entitled “Ab Ovo Essenze Sospese” in the Taglieschi state museum. Other exhibitions continue, but the desire for experiences outside Italy is always strong. In 2009, with the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce in Canada, he was invited to the "Art Gallery of Calgary" (Canada) with the exhibition entitled "Suspended between heaven and earth". Also in 2009, the Loch Gallery organized another solo exhibition in the prestigious venue of the city of Toronto, with the same gallery at the Toronto International Fair. He returns to his dear Tuscany with personal exhibitions in Arezzo, Florence, and at the castle of Montalcino. The painter's works are permanently in the galleries: Fornara Gallery (Marbella, Spain), Nuart Gallery (Santa Fe - New Mexico, USA). The painter Vincenzo Calli lives and works in his studio in Anghiari, an ancient medieval city that dominates the upper Tiber Valley.
