Ercole Calvi (Verona, 1824 – Verona, 1900) was an Italian painter. He studied at the Cignaroli Academy in Verona and subsequently at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he trained as a painter of romantic landscapes. At the Milanese exhibitions he presented a series of lake views and Brianza landscapes which were much appreciated.
Returning to Verona in 1856, he achieved commercial success and his first official recognition. Starting from 1859 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona and in 1866 he was appointed director of the Society of Fine Arts.
In the 1960s he also began to paint urban views, Risorgimento themes and landscapes.
During the 70s he approached realism painting and began painting landscapes of the Venetian lagoon. Ercole Calvi died in Verona in 1900
