Duilio Cambellotti Biography
Duilio Cambellotti (Rome, 10 May 1876 – Rome, 31 January 1960) was an Italian artist of graphic arts and visual arts. He initially approached Art Nouveau, but accepted the purely original and pioneering aspects expressed by the ideas of William Morris. He, like Morris, saw a social, global, moralistic, pedagogical purpose in art in order to make it accessible to all and, like the "master", he became the clear example of the artist-craftsman par excellence. For this reason it is rightly considered one of the most valid examples in Italy of Art Nouveau, which characterized Europe between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the next. In fact, Cambellotti was an engraver, xylographer, painter, set designer, architect, decorator, interior designer, designer, graphic designer, advertising poster maker, designer of furnishings, objects and furnishing components, sculptor, ceramist and illustrator.
