Angelo Cantù was born in Milan on 3 August 1881 and attended the Brera Academy, following the lessons of Cesare Tallone. He participated in the Brera Biennials and the Turin Quadrennials from 1908 onwards. Over the years, from 1913 to 1921, he successfully exhibited in Brazil, precisely in Rio de Janeiro where, in the hall of honor of the Municipal Palace, there is a portrait of "Princess Isabella of Braganza" painted by him. He largely owes the notoriety he achieved to this painting.
Angelo Cantù died in Milan in 1955.
