​Mauro Capelli (1958 - ) was born in Ubbiale Clanezzo in the province of Bergamo in 1959 where he currently lives and works. His passion developed since he was a child when he loved contemplating the beauties of his Bergamo valleys and imprinting them with colors on small sheets of paper. 1990 is the year in which the big change occurs. He attended the school of the poet painter Cesare Benaglia and painting took over all his passions, pushing him to create his first great works which had landscapes and figures as their subjects. In a short time the young painter was noticed in painting competitions and exhibitions by collectors and critics who gave him important recognition. Bright tones of yellow, pink, light blue, red, green, black invade the space of representation fragmented into chromatic spots. For the artist, painting is an existential gesture in the continuous search for meaning and new possibilities: his figures, which the painter recognizes as colored shadows, can come together, back to back to compose what he calls pictosculptures. There are many personal exhibitions held in Europe, as well as in Italy he has held exhibitions in various galleries in France, Belgium and Germany.
