Two years later he went to Milan and attended evening courses held at the Castello Sforzesco. In 1937 he began producing sculptural works, became a friend of Giò Ponti and participated in the Venice Biennale in 1940, 1948, 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1958. He exhibited at the Rome Quadrennial in 1933, 1943, 1947, 1955, 1965, 1973 and 1986 and at the Milan Triennale in 1951, 1954 and 1957. In 1977 he participated in the Cooperarte together with important Italian artists, a cooperative of artists that investigates new expressive forms in relationship with the public. Following his first phase of production with a figurative subject, he was influenced by Tatlin's Russian Constructivism and translated a personal style aimed at volumes and linear rhythms.
