Eugenio Caprini was born in Livorno in 1875. From a young age, he demonstrated a great passion for painting which he pursued as a self-taught artist. At maturity, he joined the Livorno group of the Scuola Labronica, like many other painters from his city, actively participating in the meetings at the Caffè Bardi. The technical quality of his works and his skilful use of color allowed him to develop a style close to the demands of the post-Macchiaioli, declining the pointillist taste of those years.
His poor health was a strong deterrent to his work and limited his artistic activity.
Eugenio Caprini died in Livorno in 1932.
