Giacinto Cargnoni Biography
Born in Brescia (20 April 1932) to parents from Levrange, he always maintained close ties with his country of origin at least until the moment of the collapse, in Christmas 1959/60. Present on the Brescia art scene for over fifty years, Cargnoni, after having taught for thirty years in city schools, has dedicated himself entirely to painting since 1982, having in the meantime learned the technique of graphics (etching-aquatint). His works have been exhibited in personal and collective exhibitions in many Italian cities and also abroad, among which we remember: Brescia, Bergamo, Milan, Cremona, Marina di Carrara, Mantua, Modena, Trento, Palermo, Marsala, Modica, Enschede (Holland), Belèn (Brazil). One of his graphics was exhibited at the MOMA in New York; another, Chrysalis, was reported at the Rockford Print Competition of the University of Rockford (USA). Among the main graphics awards and exhibitions in which he has participated we remember: the Sassoferrato Prize, the Lario-Cadorago Prize, the Santhià Exhibition, the Acqui Terme Engraving Biennial, the Cavaion Veronese Biennial, the Gaiarine Biennial, the Itinerant Exhibition Leonardo Sciascia, the Campobasso Biennial, the Exlibristica Exhibition of Bodio-Lomnago and Soncino, the Homage to Dante and the Divine Comedy organized by the S. Chiara center of Naples. Giacinto Cargnoni currently lives and works in Brescia.
