Domenico Carpinoni was born in Clusone in 1566. According to Tassi, while still young, he was sent to Venice to frequent the workshop of Palma il Giovane. From 1601 to 1612, the Rosary School of Clusone paid Carpinoni for work carried out, although the details were not specified. In his works, Carpinoni demonstrates that he maintains the liveliness of Palma's chromatic fabric, which becomes essential for his choice increasingly oriented towards the "manneristic" recovery of chiaroscuro, the linear artifice of drapery, sometimes with accents of contrasting colour.
There is little information regarding his life, yet it is known that his fame ensured him a high standard of living until his death, which occurred in his home in Clusone at the age of 92 in 1658.
