Mario Carraro was born in Mestre in 1896. After studying at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and at the Istituto Superiore d'Arte in Venice, he participated in numerous collective exhibitions such as the Bevilacqua La Masa, from 1928 to 1958, the Permanente in Milan in 1937, the International Exhibition “Premio Colomba” in 1947, the Biennale Palermo in 1946, the National Award “Auronzo” in 1947, the National Art Exhibition “Trieste” in 1950, the Biennale Triveneta in Padua from 1950 to 1954 and the “Scuola di Burano” retrospective exhibition at Palazzo Vendramin Calergi, Venice in 1966.
He also held numerous solo exhibitions, including those held in Trieste in 1942, at the Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice in 1943, at the Sala Napoleonica in 1944, at the Barozzi Gallery in 1945, at the Phea Saint Club in Chelsea, London in 1951, at the Galleria Internazionale in Milan in 1953-55, at the Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice in 1954, at the Galleria degli Artisti in Milan in 1956, at the Galleria Cosmè in Ferrara in 1955, at the Galleria Santo Stefano in Venice in 1960, at the Lay New York headquarters in 1957, at the “Il Vertice” Gallery in Milan in 1970.
He received numerous awards for his art, including the first “Conte Volpi” prize for fresco at the Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice in 1936, the Laurana Prize of the Intendenza di Finanza at the national art exhibition in Trieste in 1950, the 1 ° Prize from the Municipality of Venice at the “Paesaggio del Brenta” exhibition in Strà in 1952, the cup from the Journalists' Union of Naples at the national exhibition in Fratta Maggiore in 1954 and the gold medal for artists of the 1920s at the Burano Prize in 1972 .
