Giuseppe Carrozzi Biography
Giuseppe Carozzi, born in Milan in 1864, stood out from a young age for his predisposition for painting and, after graduating, he enrolled at the University of Turin to study medicine and subsequently law. In 1886, visiting the Civic Museum of Turin, he understood that his true vocation was painting. He began taking drawing lessons from Riccardo Pasquini, a pupil of Antonio Fontanesi, an artist who deeply inspired him. During his career, he alternated stays in Chioggia and trips to the mountains, inspired by the landscapes Segantini loved, and also dedicated himself to nocturnal light effects. With the outbreak of the First World War, he returned to live in Milan and, at the end of the war, he moved permanently to Chioggia. During his life, Carozzi refused the invitation to join the artistic group "Novecento italiano" and died in Monte Carlo in 1938 due to heart problems.
