Antonio Carta, born in Vicenza in 1928, spent the first thirty years of his life working as a worker and craftsman. His passion for art led him to self-taught, later becoming a teacher of artistic subjects in private and state schools. Carta's life was marked by his iron determination and his constant artistic research. His rural roots and the civil struggles of his land, combined with the horrors of war, formed the backdrop to his art, which aimed to extract elements from everyday life. Although the maturation of his works led him to simplify his compositions, his sources of inspiration remained faithful to his vision of the world, founded on unshakable principles and incisive life experiences. As an interpreter of the transition from peasant to industrial and post-industrial civilization, Carta testified to his era through his artistic work. In 1989, the city of Vicenza dedicated an important anthological exhibition to him. The artist died in 2014.
