Bruno Caruso was born in Palermo in 1927. He began drawing as a child under the guidance of his father, copying the drawings of the ancient masters, and above all making copies of drawings by Leonardo, Pisanello and Mantegna. In the immediate post-war period, with the impression of the devastation and disasters still alive, he held his first solo exhibition in Palermo with a collection of drawings on the suburbs marked by the violence of the war, the ruined houses and the poor neighborhoods of the city.
