Niccolo' Cassana Artwork valuations, appraisals and auction estimates

Niccolò Cassana, born in Venice in 1659, had received teachings from his father Giovanni Francesco, who was part of Bernardo Strozzi's circle. He dedicated himself above all to portraiture and the subjects of his paintings were mostly sacred and mythological, always remaining within the scope of seventeenth-century naturalism.

Niccolò Cassana, born in Venice in 1659, had received teachings from his father Giovanni Francesco, who was part of Bernardo Strozzi's circle. He dedicated himself above all to portraiture and the subjects of his paintings were mostly sacred and mythological, always remaining within the scope of seventeenth-century naturalism.
Cassana presented himself to the family of Lorenzo de' Medici with his self-portrait, now exhibited at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Thanks to this, he had the opportunity to operate and make himself known also in Florence, where he became quite famous thanks to some of his paintings.
The painter also worked as a copyist and restorer for the Medici.
In 1711, Cassana traveled to London and died three years later, in 1714.
