Claudio Castiglioni Biography
Claudio Castiglioni (1949 - ) is a painter who has always dedicated himself to his passion: watercolour, struck by William Turner and the great English watercolourists at a very young age. While still a boy, he was lucky enough to be able to paint "en plein air" with the great Dina Bellotti, landscapes of Rome and the Roman countryside. In recent years he has dedicated himself with stubbornness and enthusiasm to the study of great contemporary watercolourists. His fast and free stroke does not follow the classic canons of this magnificent technique, convinced as he is that the best result in painting is obtained by removing as much as possible and not adding details. Castiglioni recounts, with images of light and colour, the architecture of Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, Via del Babuino in Rome, or the Cathedral of Milan, but also the poetry of nature, among boats at sunset, or the suggestions of the sea of the port of Nettuno. A convinced supporter of associations, he promoted and founded the Roman Watercolorists Association of which he became the first President and of which he is still Honorary President. He successfully participates in numerous national and international events and is a protagonist in important collective exhibitions. It has been present in the collection of the Piccolo Museo di Fighille since 2016.
