Enrico Cattaneo Biography
Enrico Cattaneo, born in 1989, after studying at the Art Institute of Bergamo, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and that of Bergamo. In 2013 he spent a year in Australia becoming a street artist and exhibiting in Melboune at the Hogan Gallery. Through a refined and sophisticated work of subtraction, tearing old large format cartoons, he renders images coming from old photographs, contemporary and evocative woodcuts which, surprising the viewer, project him into a timeless dimension. The images chosen come from the intimate memory of anonymous people that Enrico makes his own, a very personal point of view. In an era in which we are bombarded daily by images from the media, from the internet, from cinema which immediately belong to us, Cattaneo re-reads old photographs - recovered from some street market - to make a personal and intimate story of them. The first solo exhibition was in 2012 in Florence, at the independent gallery CO2 Atmosfera Creativa, followed by various events such as the collective "Frammenti" in 2013 and participation in the Bergamo Arte Fiera with the Galleria Elleni.
