Alik Cavaliere (Rome, 5 August 1926 – Milan, 5 January 1998). After spending part of his childhood between Rome and Paris, he settled in Milan in 1938. After high school he enrolled at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts where, in 1942, he was a student of Francesco Messina. At the Academy he met Giacomo Manzù, Achille Funi, Dario Fo and Marino Marini of whom he became first the assistant and then the successor to the chair of Sculpture. The first exhibition dates back to 1945 during a collective exhibition of young artists. The first solo exhibition was held in 1951 at the Galleria Colonna in Milan. He participated twice in the Venice Biennale in 1964 and 1972 and in both cases exhibited his works in a personal room. He carried out his teaching activity for over 30 years at the Brera Academy of which he also became Director.
