Arturo Cavicchini Biography
Arturo Cavicchini (1907 - 1942) Born in the lower Mantua area, in Ostiglia, in 1907. Thanks to a scholarship from the Franchetti Institute, the artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he followed the courses of the Free School of Engraving and acquires the skills that will contribute significantly to his artistic activity. A multifaceted person, an important cultural animator, he is active not only in the artistic panorama of Lombardy and Mantua but also in others. He participated in the Regional Exhibition of Milan in 1928, demonstrating his talent, and in the Brera National Biennale the following year. With the help of the Fumagalli-Gozzi family, the doors to official culture opened for him at Villa Giraffa in Goito. His paintings were acquired by major Italian institutions in the 1930s, including the Marangoni Museum of Udine, the Royal Household, the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the Sforzesco Castle, and the Cabinet of Prints of the Uffizi. Participates in the XVIII Venice Biennale. He is the leader of the Novecento Mantovano group in his native town, which brings together some of the artists most sensitive to the upheavals of those turbulent 1930s.
