Albisola ceramics were produced in the Albisola territory, that is, the current municipalities of Albisola Superiore and Albissola Marina. It represents a testimony of art and culture famous throughout the world. During the 1900s Albisola was considered one of the European capitals of ceramics and art, and even today it is a crossroads of artists, styles and artisans of which Liguria can be proud. The artists Lucio Fontana, Marinetti, Bruno Munari, Asger Jorn, Fortunato Depero, are just some of the names who have gravitated around our town. Tullio d'Albisola himself published the Futurist Manifesto of Ceramics and Aeroceramics together with Marinetti. If during the 20th century it became one of the main cradles of Italian futurism, Albisola began its history as a city producing artisanal ceramics as early as 1400. The clays were obtained in the area and the artisans mainly produced crockery and pottery. The style that made Albisola ceramics famous is certainly White and Blue, also called "Ancient Savona", characterized by vegetal or mythological figures in blue on a white background.
