Ceramiche Gregori Biography
The Gregori company was founded in 1840 as a brick factory by Vincenzo Guerra in the town of Sant'Antonio, near Treviso. After Vincenzo's death in 1843, the company came under the direction of his widow Regina Guerra, who also started a production of household and furnishing articles, entrusting the management of the factory to her second husband, Bartolomeo Gregorj. In 1887, the management of the company was transferred to his son Gregorio Gregorj, who entrusted the artistic section to numerous young artists. After the First World War, due to Gregorio's precarious health conditions, the management passed to his sons Giorgio and Alfredo, who, in addition to traditional production, dedicated themselves to the creation of decorative coverings and religious works, often conceived and created by Arturo Molossi. In 1930, the manufacture presented some works by Arturo Molossi at the International Exhibition in Barcelona, obtaining a gold medal. After the Second World War, the company passed into the hands of Mario Gregorj, painter and sculptor. Starting from the 1950s, the designer Giuseppe Santomaso collaborated with the company, creating some decorations for building tiles. The factory remained active until 1963.
