Cesare Lacca & Fede Cheti Biography

Born in Naples in 1929, Cesare Lacca was a renowned Italian architect and designer specialized in the creation of metal furniture objects. Like many Italian designers of the 20th century, Lacca chose to move to Milan after the Second World War in order to launch his professional career. His skill and talent have allowed him to emerge in the panorama of Italian design.
Before turning twenty-one, Lacca was selected by a group of American curators to take part in the prestigious exhibition "Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today", which toured twelve US museums between 1950 and 1953. It was the first significant exhibition of Italian design organized outside Italy. The exhibition made it possible to collect and showcase the work of the most talented and influential Italian designers who embraced modernist principles and revolutionized the Italian artisan tradition. Among the participants there were prominent personalities such as Carlo Mollino, Franco Albini and Gio Ponti.

Federica, born in Savona in 1905, completed her studies in France before moving to Milan with her mother after her father's death in the 1930s. He began to weave his first carpets and create some furnishing fabrics for a small circle of customers, using an artisanal loom. From the creation of original drawings, Federica began to purchase sketches from various artists, becoming the owner of their works and imprinting only the Fede Cheti brand on them.
