Chan Yu was born in Hong Kong in 1982.

Chan Yu was born in Hong Kong in 1982.
In 2005 he graduated with a degree in art from the Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts. From 2005 to 2009, he received his Master's degree in Fine Arts (oil painting department) from the same institute. In 2008, he held an exhibition entitled "The Absence of the Self and the Presence of Images" at the Connoisseur Art gallery in Hong Kong.
Since 2009 many exhibitions have been organized to pay homage to his work and his sense of color (inspired by Warhol and his taste for reproduction work as if the painting were the result of mechanical work). Many see the topics discussed as a denunciation of consumer society.
After having exhibited mainly in Asia, he also exhibited in France (in 2009 at the Prune Vidal gallery in Saint-Tropez) or in Basel in Switzerland, in 2009.
