Hsiao Chin (Shanghai 1935)Hsiao Chin, born in Shanghai in 1935, studied in Taipei. He arrived in Europe in 1956 where he stayed and worked in Barcelona, Paris, London, New York and Milan. He was one of the founders of the first Chinese abstract art movement, the Ton Fan group in 1957 in Taipei; of the international “Punto” movement in 1961 and of the international “Surya” movement in 1978 in Milan. In 1969 he taught painting and drawing at Southampton College, Long Island University – New York; in 1971/1972 visual communication at the European Institute of Design in Milan; in 1972 painting and drawing at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge – Louisiana; in 1983/1984 artistic anatomy at the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino; in 1984/85 decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and after 1985 engraving technique at the Brera Academy in Milan. He currently lives and works between Milan and Taiwan.
