Beniamino Ciccottelli Biography
Beniamino Ciccotelli was born in Tollo in the Abruzzi in 1937. He lives and carries out his artistic activity in Montecatini Terme. Ciccotelli left his hometown immediately after the war to arrive in Turin where his artistic temperament, already expressed at a young age with innate ability, met its first acclaim. The magical atmosphere that characterizes the cultural life of Turin in the period spanning the '50s and '60s directs his attention towards a complex reality in continuous evolution. His first interests thus turned towards the "figurative" and the study of the industrial landscapes that characterize the face of the new Turin. Continuous attention to the events of great painting in Italy and abroad contributes to Ciccotelli's acquisition of a personal pictorial language. The subsequent move to Tuscany finally marks a further decisive moment in his artistic career. Inserted in a context where contemporary art and traditional masterpieces are easily available for study, Ciccotelli finds fertile ground to explore his artistic talent. In the '80s Ciccotelli returns to the "primitive" values of painting where the subject is just a mere pretext to investigate and explore nature in its reality. With the Nature and Painting cycle Ciccotelli tackles the painting of the contrast between shadows and lights between the depth of space and the structure of surfaces, not disdaining incursions into the wealth of his ancient experiences. Portraits, landscapes and still lifes, classic or which draw on the everyday life of a familiar symbiosis with the objects of the trade, investigated today without illusions but only "realistically", are Ciccotelli's favorite themes. Representations of a reality that wants to be knowledge and does not accept confusion with the ephemerality of current events and fashions. Beniamino Ciccotelli's works are present in Italian, French, Belgian and German galleries. His paintings have also been exhibited in San Francisco (CA), New York (NY), Washington (DC), Seattle (WA), Palm Desert (CA) and San José (CA).
