Carlo Cioni Biography

Carlo Cioni (1930 - 2020) was born in Florence in 1930, the artist then settled in Ambra where he created his paintings and sculptures for several years. Cioni passed away after a period of hospitalization in the Valdarno hospital at the age of 90 with a legacy of many works produced over the years. Carlo Cioni's training dates back to the 1950s: a period in which he frequented the Florentine gallery "Numero" directed by Fiamma Vigo; he later established an assiduous relationship with some young Florentine artists and writers, including Antonio Bueno. In the seventies he carried out an intense collaboration with art magazines in Rome, Milan and Florence. In the eighties he began a work where the images he created, both in the fields of painting and sculpture, were oriented towards the search for the potential origin of form. In 1985 he exhibited an anthological exhibition in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and in 1986 he was present with a group of works at the "Art and Alchemy" exhibition curated by Arturo Schwarz at the Venice Biennale. At the beginning of the nineties he exhibited in Milan, Genoa and Vicenza.
