Benedetto Civiletti was an Italian sculptor born in Palermo on October 1, 1845, and died in the same city on September 22, 1899. Growing up in a family of farmers, he began studying art at a young age and received protection and support from influential figures. He trained in Florence with Giovanni Duprè, which influenced his style towards verism. He returned to Palermo in 1865 and continued to exhibit his works in various cities around the world. He also served as a teacher to his brother, Pasquale Civiletti.
