Francesco Clemente (Naples, 1952). Protagonist of the Transavantgarde together with Cucchi, Cordero, Chia, De Maria, Paladino, a movement theorized by Bonito Oliva, according to which it is necessary to return to manual skills and painting, after years of conceptual art. He paints with Warhol and Basquiat and travels to Italy, New York and India. Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1980 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the following year he moved to New York. He exhibits in important American, English, French and Italian museums.
