Comelli Dante, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, was faithful to divisionism for very long years, since his acquaintance with Segantini, in his youth, approaching modules like Fornara or Maggi, before the Great War, and then focusing on a painting of rapid execution, mainly material. He also attempted moderately symbolic solutions at the beginning of his activity. He exhibited in the “Francesco Francia” exhibitions in Bologna, at the Third Roman Biennial, and at the I Sindacale Regionale Emiliana (1929). An artist of great skill, he achieved mature pictorial results in the landscape, in which he revealed himself fully (Harmonies of a sunset, 1924 oil, exhibited at the Third Roman Biennial).
