Mario Consiglio Biography
Mario Consiglio was born in Maglie, in the province of Lecce in 1968.
In the 1980s he began to create a series of three-dimensional works, including sculpture and objects with organic shapes. Subsequently he discovered lycra, a material that lends itself very well to his artistic poetics, being a soft fabric but with a resistant structure, suitable for being used in various ways, including the pieces of a mosaic. In recent years Mario Consiglio has dedicated himself in particular to drawing, using various types of materials. He has recently worked on the ironic alteration of the image and on the reuse of materials, addressing hot topics linked to contemporary society and its decadence. Academician of merit and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia, he has exhibited in numerous public and private contexts, in Italy and abroad. Among these: Grimmuseum (Berlin), Trolley Gallery (London), Palazzo Bricherasio (Turin), Museo Pecci (Prato), Galeria Villena (Havana, Cuba), Studio Visconti (Milan), MACRO (Rome), Fondazione Sandretto ( Turin), Gran Central Terminal (New York).
He currently lives and works between Berlin and Perugia.
