Consorzio Expo Mobili Cantu' Biography

On 11 May 1893, the Permanent Exhibition of Canturini Furniture was born near Cantù, in Lombardy, on the initiative of some furniture manufacturers, eager to escape the conditioning of traders in the sector. An initiative which over the course of a few years would have allowed the wood manufacturing industry to make a decisive entrepreneurial leap, thus overcoming the weak point of an activity which for a good number of companies had reached its second generation. Its establishment brought not only economic benefits to its members, but also new awareness in the sector. At the beginning of the 20th century, Cantù manufacturing was considered at the top of national production. Already at the beginning of the twentieth century, Permanente Mobili was indicated as the reference cooperative model for all small furniture producers. Permanente Mobili was one of the great ideas on which the economic development of the Italian territory was based.
